Distance Learning Extended through May 1

March 26, 2020

Dear Sebastopol Union School District Community,

I am writing with an important update about schools and the role we all have in preventing the community spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus). Sonoma County, along with Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, and Solano counties, is officially announcing continued distance learning through May 1, 2020. This means students will continue learning from home through May 1st unless circumstances change regarding COVID-19.

Thank you to all the parents and families who picked up student work this week. Moving forward, many of the lessons will be delivered online. Our staff is committed to providing quality instruction to your student(s). We ask that you are patient, as many of our teachers are learning new programs and skills to teach virtually. We have been encouraged by your positive comments and photos. Thank you for sharing them with us and please continue.

We are currently evaluating the food distribution timing and usage. Depending on utilization, we may adjust the program. We will keep you updated as this program evolves. Currently, we are distributing food for students five days a week from 10:30 am to 11:30 am on Washington Ave, near the Park Side Multipurpose Room.

Once again, thank you for your patience as we all adjust to the challenges of staying at home and communicating with each other in new ways. We are committed to keeping you updated through this unprecedented crisis. If you have unanswered questions, you may reach out to your principals, teachers, and/or the superintendent via email.

Take good care,

Linda Irving
Superintendent & Park Side Principal
