Description
Position Description: This position reports to the site principal. The School Counselor provides academic, personal, career and social guidance services to students and contributes positively to the academic, social/emotional and professional functions and climate of the school site.

Broad scope of Duties and Responsibilities:
Support the academic success of all students in grades 5 – 8 by offering behavioral and emotional support and necessary interventions, providing curriculum guidance and academic support, and participate in management of the master and student schedules. Coordinate and facilitate Student Study Team (SST) Meetings. Work with grade level teams to coordinate student intervention. Refer students and families to appropriate community agencies as necessary. Follow District policies and procedures. Contribute to a positive school climate. Maintain appropriate confidentiality. Perform other duties as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the school.

Benefits
This position would be three 7 hour days per week at our Brook Haven School. The position includes district contributions to medical, dental, vision and life insurance; school calendar work schedule; 10 sick days/year.

Qualifications:
• Pupil Personnel Services Credential and/or School Counseling Credential.
• Three years of classroom teaching experience as a fully credentialed teacher, 5th – 8th grade preferred.
• Master’s Degree, bilingual Spanish and experience working in a middle school setting preferred.

Salary
Min $45,050 - Max $66,217 start (per years/units on salary schedule) with annual increases; Stipend for MA
